GERD(Gastroesophageal reflux disease)

Arthur is a 40 year old man, loves to watch TV on the sofa after dinner every night. He sometimes even dozes off in front of the TV. One day, he had the feeling of something hot running up from his stomach.

Ben is a senior high school student, he spends a lot of time studying for the big test. In order to gain more time for studying, he doesn’t chew a lot before swallowing food. One day, he had the feeling of something hot running up from his stomach.

Susane is a lady fond of coffee and cakes. Every time she finishes shopping at a department store, she would order a cup of black coffee and a slice of cheesecake. One day, she had the feeling of something hot running up from his stomach.

There are some tips for all those who are suffering from the funny feeling of something hot going up their stomachs, AKA GERD(Gastroesophageal reflux disease)

1 Chew a lot before you swallow food. Take 20-30 bites to make the food into smaller pieces, which makes it easier for your stomach to process the food.

2 Avoid drinking too many beverages while eating. All the liquid you consume during the meal will confuse your body, making the body presume that the gastric acid is not enough, thus producing excessive gastric acid.

3 Coffee and desserts both increase the chance of having GERD. It’s ok by small amounts, however, if you are currently suffering from GERD, you should avoid these two things!

半夏瀉心湯(Ban-Sha-Xie-Shin soup)is a sufficient Chinese herb prescription for GERD, it’s originated from the well known 傷寒論(Shang-Han thesis)

The main ingredient
半夏(Ban-Sha,Tubers of [Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Breit.])
can oppress the chaotic stomach Qi, while the bitter-cold
黃芩(Huang-Ching,Roots of [Scutellaria baicalnsis Geprgi]) and 黃連(Huang-Lian,Rhizomes of [Coptis chinensis Franch.]、[Coptis deltoidea C.y.Cheng et Hsiao]、[Coptis teeta Wall.]
could put out the excessing stomach fire.
